Truly a Comfort

Psalm 23:4c says, “your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”

Now I get it that a staff could be used to pull me back to safety when the wooden hook is wrapped around me. That is comforting! But a rod to “nudge” me back in line doesn’t seem very comforting at all. Be assured, my friends, it is.

You see, the book of Hebrews teaches us that God’s discipline proves we are true sons of our Heavenly Father. As a matter of fact, scripture tells us that the Lord disciplines those He loves. “because the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.” Hebrews 12:6

It is good for the Lord to put me on the right track. This is how I know I am His! I’m not suggesting that you sin to find out what the Lord’s discipline is, but if you do “slip and fall” into sin, pay attention to the Lord’s prodding - the still, small voice in your heart that aligns with scripture. When you hear it, turn back. Because He loves you! You are His child!

Imagine that His rod and His staff are truly a comfort! Oh the truth of His word.

And there you go!

Want to Know a Secret?

Psalm 46:10 says, “He says, ‘Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.’”

I am learning a very valuable life-changing truth. If I want to hear from God, I must cease from my busyness and be still.

Now that sounds basic, but what about you? Are you running all the time? Is your radio, TV, phone, iPad, or computer always turned on with the volume up? Are you talking, texting, tweeting, Snapchatting, instant messaging, or posting on Facebook without stop?

Oh, America, be still and know that He is God! Christians, be still, and He will give you the secrets of the Kingdom.

Be silent and LISTEN for His voice. We desperately need to hear from Him, so we will know that He is the Exalted One. So we can share the secrets of the Kingdom with a lost and dying world.

Oh, my brothers and sisters in Christ, will you be still and hear Him speaking to you? He wants you to know you are His child. He wants you to seek Him. Be assured you will find Him when you seek Him with all your heart. (Jeremiah 29:13)

Be still!

And there you go!

Truth Restores the Soul

Psalm 23:3a says, “He restores my soul…”

Recently, I went away alone for a few days of fasting and prayer. Sometimes I need cleansing of both the soul and body. In my business, it is easy to lose focus on God and His perspective on things. But in the quietness of only God and me, I hear Him speak to my soul.

This time, He showed me I should think on what is true. Only what is true. Not what I make up or worry will happen. But only what I know is true or real right now. This truth is restoring to my soul.

It is easy to think my understanding of things is true, but actually only God’s understanding is the only complete truth. And the truth of the matter is, He wants me and you to know His plan - His will for us. And when we think on the truth, really meditate on it by reading and memorizing God’s Word, then our soul is restored. Praise God for His peace. The peace that is both mine and yours.
