Glorifying God

Spread the Light!

1 Peter 2:9 says, “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”

We have the amazing privilege to proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called us out of darkness and into His marvelous light! We are chosen by Him, made a part of the royal priesthood, declared holy as Christians, and have been designated as people of God’s own possession. What a wonderful opportunity the Lord has given us!

But what do we tell?

Are we proclaiming Jesus and how amazing He is? Or are we proclaiming how hard our circumstances are?

And if our circumstances are hard, do we still proclaim that God is good and that darkness will not overtake us? God has called us to share His gospel and bring His light to a dark world. That is His plan! And it is going to move forward.

And we have been called to declare it! Won’t you do your part in sharing this excellent news? Spread the light, dear Christian, spread the light!

And there you go!

Transformation

Romans 12:2 says, Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Letting God transform your mind is no small thing. It requires ridding yourself of your own thoughts and taking EVERY thought captive. Literally surrendering EVERY thought to Christ, and then taking on Christ’s thoughts as revealed in God’s Word.

It’s a process to know, understand, then DO God’s will. Renewing your mind is not easy, but so worth it. With a transformed mind comes unspeakable joy and the glory of God. Oh the half has never yet been told!

Renew our minds please, Father, that we may be transformed to do only Your will in Your time and in Your way!

And there you go.

Emptying Yourself

Philippians 2:7-8 says, “Rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death - even death on a cross!”

What kind of love could have left heaven, the throne of God, and the adoration of angels to come to a world that would reject him, knowing he would be beaten, crucified, and ridiculed so those of us who caused His death with our sin could be saved?

Jesus emptied himself. Took on flesh. Squeezed His very being into an infant. Was born in a stable with stench and animals. And shepherds - of all people - were the audience to the greatest act of all history. This very moment divides our calendar in two - BC & AD.

He preached to people who had trouble understanding his words. He died for those who came against Him in sin. And because he emptied himself in all of that, his name is and will be forevermore magnified and glorified!

I must become less, and He must become more. When I empty myself, it allows for the filling of his Holy Spirit to shine through my life with the glory of Jesus! I pray for us, like Jesus, to empty ourselves today.

And there you go.

God's Kingdom Now & Forever

Matthew 6:10a says, “your kingdom come”

We as Christ’s followers are the kingdom of God, and our King is Jesus, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. As His Kingdom subjects, we are to spread the good news that His kingdom is for all who want to worship our King. He is looking for worshippers who deny themselves, take up their cross daily, and follow Him.

One day our King will come on a white horse and set up His kingdom on earth. For now, He lives in us and He’s given us the mission of the kingdom.

The good news is this King loves us enough that He died for our sins and rose again, so we could live forever in the kingdom with Him—reigning with Him. He’s the greatest King ever!

And there you go!

Carry the Light!

2 Corinthians 4:6-7 says, “For God, who said, ‘Let there be light in the darkness,’ has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ. We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves.”

Lisa and Greg, children of my older siblings, were in a youth group choir at their church. The choir’s name was His Power and Light Company.

This choir sang to spread the Light of Christ that was shown by God in their hearts. They were not the source nor did they supply this energy or power. They were part of the transfer of this power.

As are we!

Brothers & sisters, may we never lose sight that we must share this Light - Christ, the glory of God - with others! The darkness is enclosing us all around, but Light, The Light, shall shine out of darkness! God says so!

Join the company—carry the Light!  And there you go!
