As it Turned Out...

Ruth 2:3 says, “So she went out, entered a field and began to glean behind the harvesters. As it turned out, she was working in a field belonging to Boaz, who was from the clan of Elimelek.”

In the book of Ruth the phrase ‘as it turned out’ is used several times. ‘As it turned out’, she was walking in Boaz’s field when she and Naomi returned to Israel from Moab. Boaz just happened to be her kinsman redeemer.

Sometimes things get hectic, crazy, chaotic even; but as it turns out, God is our Great Redeemer. He buys up our heartaches and uses them for our good and His glory.

Just wait my fellow followers of Christ! if you think pain is your constant companion, as it turns out, our Redeemer lives to make something good out of everything that happens in your life. It’s a promise!

And there you go!

Hide Yourself in Him

Psalm 32:7 says, “You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.”

When I’ve sinned, I thank God that I can confess my sin to Him. I know He will forgive me and will not let my sin overtake me. When I pray to Him I can be certain He will be there for me.

I can tell Him my secrets, and He will protect me in my time of trouble. I can be certain He will surround me with songs of deliverance.

I can go to my hiding place - the place of my deliverance at all times. Maybe you too, need a place or a person to be your hiding place. Allow the God of the universe and His loving arms to be the person and place you turn in times of despair.

He is waiting to deliver you! Please come to Him today and hide yourself in Him.

And there you go.

Making Music

Ephesians 5:18b-19 says, “Instead, be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord…”

Feeling blue? How about an inspiring song? Even if it’s simple, a tune in your head can make you feel happier! It is a scientific, statistical fact that upbeat music releases the feel-good chemical, dopamine, in your brain.

No wonder Ephesians 5:19 teaches us to “speak to one another with psalms, hymns and songs from the Spirit.” God’s Word encourages us to “sing and make music from your heart to the Lord.”

On top of the feel-good brain chemical, you, as a believer in Christ, also have the encouragement of the Holy Spirit as you sing to Him. So here’s a melody to get stuck in your head today.

I sing because I’m happy,

I sing because I’m free,

For His eye is on the sparrow,

And I know He watches me.

I hope you are feeling happier already. Keep on singing!

And there you go!

Open Your Eyes

2 Kings 6:17 says, “And Elisha prayed, “Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.”

The prophet, Elisha, prayed to God for his servant’s eyes to be open so he could see that the Lord was ready to take on the battle before them. This is my prayer for you today.

Are you overwhelmed with your circumstances? I pray God will open your eyes so you see His hand at work in your situation.

Feeling depressed and defeated? I pray God will open your eyes to His hope and unfailing love.

Are you discouraged? Perhaps bound by sin or unable to forgive yourself or others? I pray God will open your eyes to the healing that He alone makes available to you.

Oh my friends, look up! Lift up your head! Our redemption is drawing near (Luke 21:28b). If we will only let God open our eyes.

And there you go!

God Never Fails

Joshua 1:9 says, "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Do you believe this? Do I believe this? Whether we do or not, it’s true. We have no reason to be afraid or dismayed.

When I keep my granddaughter, Adali, she delights in that fact that I am just with her. She’s glad to see me, and she totally trusts that I will take care of her. I love the fact that she knows I love her and would only act for good on her behalf if at all possible.

But, alas, though I don’t even want to do so, I will fail her somewhere. But God will never fail her. He will be with her wherever she goes, and He will be with you and me. Let’s hand Him our fears and our disappointment today. He is for us, and He is with us wherever we go! Thank Him for His promise all day today!

And there you go!
