You are God's Own Possession

As I was growing up, we moved a lot! Nineteen times by the time I was 20 years old and all in the same town. Sometimes, all four Griffith kids had to help move. We even occasionally missed school so we could get the job done.

My mother used to say, "A house is not a home. As long as we are together - that is home!"

The six of us once lived in two rooms plus a bathroom. My mom cooked on a hot plate. It was only for a short time, but I remember that place vividly! And I found out that mom was right...as usual. Six Griffiths together made our home. We were a family anywhere, and we “had” each other no matter what.

To me, that’s what it’s like to be God’s possession. No matter where I am, He’s got me. I may roam. But I am His, and He is my home.

Deuteronomy 4:20 says, “The Lord has taken you and brought you out of the iron furnace, Egypt, to be a people for His own possession.” Egypt was home to the Hebrews for a period of time. God was with them there, and He led them to a new home. They were His own.

Isn’t it amazing to be at home with God, our Father - Daddy - and other believers as a family? And there you go!
