My mentor for 20 years died recently. Mary Ella was the epitome of giving in secret. She did lots for me, but most importantly, she listened to me and prayed for what she knew I needed. She did this praying in secret. Of course I have no way of knowing what she prayed, but I knew that she prayed for me and that’s what made the difference.
Though she moved away from Lebanon, she continued to pray for my husband, my kids, and my family. I knew I could call her at any time with anything! She was sick a lot, but cared more about my needs than about her own. And you could tell Jesus was her friend--she knew Him well.
Because of her giving of herself in this secret time in prayer with her Father, she was rewarded with peace in this life and now in the next. This kind of reward is Priceless. I miss her dearly.
Her Father and our Father who sees in secret will reward us when we “give” in secret whether it’s our money, our talents or time in prayer for others.
And there you go.
